Transylvania County Historical Society Allison-Deaver House

The Allison-Deaver house dates from 1815 and is oldest standing frame house in Western North Carolina. It is owned be the Transylvania County Historical Society and is open for visitors late May through October, Saturdays 10-4, Sundays 1-4 and by special appointment. The Society also owns the 1872 McGaha Chapel in Cedar Mountain, which is open by appointment.. The Museum is open May through October, Saturdays 10-4.

Volunteer Opportunities

Docents at the Allison-Deaver House:Leading group tours as a docent is a rewarding and wonderful way to share your love of history to school-children and adults.

  • Volunteer skills and Experience Required:   Docents need to be outgoing and interested in the heritage of Transylvania County.
  • Volunteer Training Requirements :  Training is provided one-on-one.
